2011 low-carbon model community (Chimei Township East Lake Village and Husi Township Longmen Village) to promote carbon reduction, wastage reduction and resource recycling plan

Abstract According to the contract, the execution period of the “2011 low-carbon model community (Chimei Township East Lake Village and Husi Township Longmen Village) to promote carbon reduction, wastage reduction and resource recycling plan” started from November 2011 and ended by December 31, 2011. There are several major items in this project, including promotion on renewable energy, assistance on communities’ green transport promotion, "Eco-Life " website log-ins, purchase of promotion materials and energy-saving education tools display, promotion activities on garbage force-classification, promotion activities on source minimization, promotion activities on the usage of cleansing-repetitive dining-sets, temporary recycling station facilities set-up, purchase of recycling bins and battery recycling bin and recycling bag, the planning and implementation on the other promotion and administrative work. By December 31, 2011, the results of implementation are as follows: 1. Promotion on renewable energy: Mr. Pei-Hao Li, Doctor from Industrial Technology Research Institute, was invited on November 24, 2011 and December 7, 2011, to give an explanation announcement at Husi Township Longmen Village, Chimei Township East Lake Village, targeted at the community residents, school teachers and students, with participants of 178 and 175 respectively, total 353 participants. 2. Assistance on communities’ green transport promotion: Rent 18 motors (EVT Technology) which certified by TES, provided Husi Township Longmen Village and Chimei Township East Lake Village 9 motors each, for people to test- ride at least 60 days, with 544 valid questionnaires collected. 3. "Eco-Life" website log-ins: Announce the activities and results over "Eco-Life" website -- before and after the promotion – logged-in via the EPA Pollution Prevention account, total seven activities. 4. Purchase of promotion materials and energy-saving education tools display Promotion goods were purchased with focus on energy-saving products (LED lamp and tubes in majority), offering trial experience along with promotion materials distribution; bottles/cans compressor and net-bags are mostly distributed in fishing, areas, scene areas, schools and community centers to promote energy-saving concept. 5. Promotion activities on garbage force-classification: Two activities (on garbage force-classification) were taken place on November 24,2011 and December 19, 2011 at Husi Township Longmen Village. Another two activities were taken place on December 7, 2011 and December 21, 2011 at Chimei Township East Lake Village. Total 4 sections, 622 participants. 6. Promotion activities on source minimization: One announcement for B & B industry was conducted in Chimei Township, to promote “water-saving devices” and “do not initiatively offer one-off toiletries (toothbrush/cream, razor, shower cap, comb, slippers ... etc.)”, total 30 participants. 7. Promotion activities on the usage of cleansing-repetitive dining-sets: Restaurants and snack-stores are promoted by using cleansing-repetitive dining-sets, and do not initiatively offer disposable dining sets. Resulted in 30 participants at Husi Township Longmen Village, 1 environmental demonstration restaurant is consultation provided. 22participants at Chimei Township. 8. Set up a temporary recycling station facilities: Select the Longmen primary school and Chimei junior school set recycling station, follow the Environmental Protection Administration rules to set the relative recycling project recycling facilities to enhance public resource recovery and achieve propaganda effect. 9. Purchase of recycling bins and barrels and battery recycling bag: Recycle bin has been purchased 20, 200 battery recycling bins, recycling bag 200, provided to the Husi Township Longmen Village and Chimei Township community . 10.
